Beacon Light Baptist Food Distribution

At the beginning of the year, the Danos Foundation Committee members set team goals to accomplish for the year. This year the Foundation’s focus was getting the word out and increasing participation in Danos WORKS. Danos WORKS is an arm of the Foundation based on service. We encourage Danos employees to get out in the community and serve organizations that are near and dear to their heart. Danos employees can then log their volunteer hours through the Thelma portal. The Foundation pays $10 for every hour volunteered by our employees.

One of the goals for the Foundation committee members was to complete a service opportunity as a team and invite fellow field employees to join. This year we partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank and join in on one of their local food distributions. We chose Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma’s food distribution, and it was a great success! We had 14 Danos team members attend, including one field employee, Timothy Granger, Deck Coordinator from our production services team.

We filled and distributed food boxes to over 150 families. Not only did we enjoy a beautiful morning of teambuilding and serving our neighbors, but we also logged 42 service hours. That amounts to $420 that will be presented to Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma at the beginning of 2024!

Our 2023 goal is to reach 4,300 service hours logged by Danos employees by December 31. Currently, we are sitting at 3,068 hours logged. So please, log those hours and get out in the community this holiday season and make a difference!
