Danos Partners with Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC)

Did you know?
Danos is proud to be contracted by Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) to provide a team of highly skilled and qualified personnel from our workforce to operate the topside production and capture equipment aboard two modular capture vessels (MCV) in the event of a deepwater well incident.
Currently, Danos has two dedicated employees working full-time at the MCV shorebase in Ingleside, Texas. Additionally, we have 90 employees in various roles from production operations and mechanics, to electricians and I&E techs, who are assigned to MWCC’s Reservist Response Team. In the event of a deepwater well incident, these employees would be activated to respond promptly and effectively.
About MWCC
MWCC was founded in 2010 as an independent, not-for-profit organization. This initiative was the result of industry collaboration led by Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and Shell, addressing the critical need for a quick and effective solution to contain compromised deepwater wells in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Today, MWCC boasts 10 member companies: Anadarko, BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Equinor, ExxonMobil, Hess, Shell, TotalEnergies and Woodside Energy.
In the event of a compromised well incident, MWCC activates its Response Team and collaborates with the well operator to deploy the Containment System. This system is assembled and launched from shore bases located near Mobile, Alabama, and Corpus Christi, Texas. MWCC personnel integrate into the operator’s broader response plan to manage the mobilization and operation of the Containment System on behalf of the operator, ensuring control and capping of the compromised well.
Danos’ partnership with MWCC highlights our capability to provide specialized services in high-stakes environments. Our involvement in this initiative demonstrates our commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship. We are proud to bring our experience and skilled workforce to support MWCC and its member companies in safeguarding the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
