Employee Spotlight: Paul Ezuma
Paul Ezuma began working with Danos as a material coordinator in July 2022. However, his experience with the company goes back over twenty years and nearly 7,000 miles.
A native of Anambra State, Nigeria, Paul is an electronics engineering graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology. In 1998, he began working for the energy service company Oildata as a field technician contracted to customer Chevron. The role took him offshore on lift boats and rigs. The first ever lift boat he worked on was the Alyce Danos, owned by Danos & Curole.
“There were many different companies working on the lift boat, so I met a lot of people,” said Paul. “It was great for networking and learning."
According to Paul, the Danos crew made quite an impact.
“I was a fresh college graduate that was eager to learn. I learned a lot from observing the lift boat crew demonstrate a high-performance culture. The Danos team was outstanding. The discipline, values and work ethic they brought were all impressive. I remember the captain of the boat, Captain Todd, and Alvin, the first mate.”
Next, Paul worked on Danos & Curole’s Aimee Danos lift boat. He would sometimes stay on the boat for one to two months at a time, going from one well to another.
“I saw firsthand the teamwork from the Danos crew and the core values they showed of safety, integrity and respect in the way they carried themselves,” said Paul.
After three years offshore, Paul took an office role with Oildata. He was with the company a total of eight years before moving to Baker Hughes as a field engineer. For 14 years he worked in different positions with Baker Hughes, the last of which was senior technical support manager.
In 2014, his role took Paul and his family to Houston. However, during the pandemic and industry downturn in 2020, Paul lost his job with Baker Hughes. He then enrolled in Walden University’s MBA program and later graduated with a concentration in project management.
“Reflecting, it was a good time for me to pivot and move toward something more aligned with my own vision in life,” said Paul.
Once the job market opened, he began searching for his next career move. He found his current role posted on Indeed.com after recognizing the name Danos. He was familiar with Danos & Curole, so it took a quick search for him to realize it was the same purpose-driven company he remembered from Nigeria. And it turns out, the role and Danos were a great fit.
“Paul has an amazing history with Danos. Paul been a great addition to the i2ms team in Houston. He always has a smile on his face and is willing to help anyone. His work ethic and continuous improvement efforts are unmatched. We are very grateful to have him on our team,” said Danos Operations Manager-Materials Management Amir Searles.
In his current role, Paul works with i2ms in Houston supporting BP’s Gulf of Mexico well completion operations from an integrated materials management perspective. Although he is still fairly new, Paul already sees how passionately the team embraces the Danos values and high-performance culture he witnessed in 1998. “Especially the hunger for continuous improvement,” he says.
Paul and his wife Philomena live in Katy, Texas. They have three children: son Joseph currently attends Baylor University; son David attends Texas A&M University; and daughter Zoe is a sophomore at Cinco Ranch High School.
In addition to spending time with his family, Paul is passionate about helping others and enjoys serving the community and assisting with activities at his church. This ties to his personal vision in life, “to love God and love people,” he said. When he is able, he also enjoys both watching and playing soccer, which he more commonly refers to as football.
