On Tuesday, October 3, the Danos owners and vice presidents participated in a Danos WORKS service opportunity/team-building event at the Dulac Community Center (DCC).

The Dulac Community Center is a 5-time Danos GIVES grant recipient. This year’s grant provided $10,000 to purchase fresh bread, fruit and meat to supplement the standard, shelf-stable food boxes. Since 2019, the DCC has received $30,000 in GIVES funds and $220 in WORKS funds to support its outreach program.

About the Dulac Community Center: The DCC’s mission is to provide social services, emergency response and learning opportunities to people in lower Terrebonne Parish with an emphasis on women, children and Native Americans in response to the Gospel. The DCC is an autonomous, nonprofit agency whose focus is to provide comprehensive social, recreational and emergency services to the people of Terrebonne Parish with emphasis given to the educational and personal development of women, children and families. DCC was formed in 1932 when Ella and Wilhelmina Hooper formed the Dulac Indian Mission to meet the educational needs of the indigenous population in lower Terrebonne Parish.

The DCC is the only non-government organization that serves the local and surrounding communities, and it aims to provide community members with programs and services to meet their nutritional, housing and health needs. Last year, the DCC emergency food bank helped nearly 1,500 individuals provide meals for their families via its monthly drive-thru food distribution program.
