Congratulations to Paint & Hydro Superintendent Mike Theriot who celebrated 37 years with Danos on September 28!

Mike answered a few questions about his impressive career at Danos, which began in 1983.

  • How did you get your start at Danos? I started working as a roustabout on a jack-up barge before moving to the docks in Fourchon where I worked for Amoco as a crane operator/yard foreman for 10 years. When the Amoco dock shut down, I moved into the fabrication shop as a fitter and worked my way up to superintendent.
  • What challenges have you faced throughout your career? I’d have to say my biggest challenge was being able to adapt to the constant changes that we are faced with throughout the oil and gas industry.
  • Who has served as a mentor for you along your journey? I’ve had many mentors throughout my career. I’d have to say the ones that have had the largest impact on my career would include Hank Danos, Errol Falgout, Louis "Smitty" Smith, Jr., Dwain "Hog" Carrell, Paul Robichaux and John Bigler.
  • What makes Danos a special place? Why have you stayed for 37 years? The Danoses have always treated me like family. Safety is always their number one priority, and they have always had an open door policy.

Fabrication Operations Manager Eric Hood had the following to say about Mike: "When I started at Danos in 1996, Mike was the shop foreman. I was just a welder’s helper and can remember being intimidated by him. He was a very stern but fair leader. He held his employees accountable to their duties. A few years later, Mike became the yard superintendent. Mike was the type of leader that didn’t hold anyone back from moving up, even though that position would be difficult to fill. He took pride in watching his employees climb the ladder. Mike now operates equipment for fabrication. Mike is a dedicated employee with years of fabrication and equipment knowledge. He is always up for helping in solving challenges."

At the same time, Fabrication Project Coordinator Mike Dufrene celebrated his 12-year anniversary with Danos.

Thanks to Mike and Mike for your commitment and dedication to excellence and Danos!
