On Thursday, March 30, Danos Power Generation and Mechanical Operations Manager Bart Bergeron represented Danos and the industry at the U.S. Capitol as the House passed HR 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act.
“I was honored and flattered to represent Danos,” said Bart. “This bill will be great for our industry and our country, and I am grateful for the experience to be a part of it.”
Bart, along with other representatives from industry, watched from the congressional chamber gallery as U.S. representatives argued the bill and then, ultimately, voted to pass the bill, which was introduced and sponsored by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA).
“Congressman Scalise asked me to thank everyone at Danos for the work that we’re doing for the energy industry,” said Bart.
According to Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, HR 1 focuses on two main priorities: “increasing the production and export of American energy and reducing the regulatory burdens that make it harder to build American infrastructure and grow our economy.”
While the bill needs to be passed by the U.S. Senate, this step is a win for the energy industry.
The House Committee on Energy and U.S. Commerce says HR 1 will restore American energy independence by:
- Increasing domestic energy production
- Reforming the permitting process for all industries
- Reversing anti-energy policies advanced by the Biden administration
- Streamlining energy infrastructure and exports
- Boosting the production and processing of critical minerals
