New Year, New Focus - Danos WORKS

In the beginning of 2022, the Danos Foundation challenged itself to a goal of having 75 employees log 1,947 hours via Danos WORKS in honor of our 75th anniversary as a company. As of writing this article, that number has reached 81 employees who have logged 2,707 hours via our online portal and that number continues to grow each day. What a tremendous accomplishment from the Danos team!

In December, the members of the Danos Foundation met for our annual retreat. The committee decided to make Danos WORKS the focus for 2023. and has challenged itself to not only become more involved in serving our communities, but to bring along our co-workers for the journey. One way we are hoping to achieve this is by doing service and giving our time as a group. To kick off this goal and to end the year doing something BIG for our community, the Foundation partnered up with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide food boxes for families in need this holiday season. Second Harvest Food Bank challenged the committee to fill and pack 100 food boxes and with the help of our Danos teammates at HQ, we managed to knock it out. The employees who showed up to help were Jamie Stoot, John Bigler, Brittney Fremin, Kerry Thibodaux, Tish Hebert, Mark Danos, Mike Guidry, Paige Boudreaux, Melanie Toups, Dwayne Johnson, Chester Sanchez, Matt Kelso and Brady Hebert.

This event showed how our employees are living our purpose and values. The Danos Foundation principles and values state:

  • We care for and serve others because we believe that all people are created in the image of God.
  • We invest in organizations that are focused on building strong families and creating sustainable solutions for the vulnerable, hurt and disadvantaged.
  • We develop long-term partnerships with organizations run with excellence.
  • We invest in organizations that our employees are passionate about and impact the communities where we live and work.

Second Harvest Food is a former Danos Gives grant recipient who we have teamed up with before to serve our community in different ways. They are the largest charitable anti-hunger network in South Louisiana. Their mission is to end hunger by providing access, advocacy, education, and disaster response.

If you are interested in finding out more about Second Harvest or how you can donate or get involved, check out their website. You can also speak with your manager or any member of the Danos Foundation about setting up a service event for your team.

I look forward to tallying up the final numbers and hours for 2022 in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to see what BIG things this company and my teammates do in 2023. Thanks to all who not only gave their time within their community, but who logged those hours to give Danos a chance to financially contribute and recognize those organizations.

Here’s to an even better 2023!
