Saul Llanez Recognizes Hot Oil Hazard
Danos Crew Pusher Saul Llanez recognized a hazard that could have been detrimental to an entire gas plant. While working in the “Cowboy” plant for XTO, Saul recognized a hot oiler truck was beginning to smoke.
Smoke is a bad thing when it comes to a hot oiler in the field. A hot oiler is basically a gas water heater for oil that is mobile. So imagine a rolling water heater with large amounts of propane on board, along with a combustible fluid inside being heated up to extreme temperatures.
A coil was broken inside the combustion chamber, creating a potential for fire and explosion. Saul recognized the smoke even before the truck driver. He immediately called stop work authority and had the truck shut down and isolated. There were no damages to property and no injuries, but if Saul had not recognized the hazard and stopped the job, it could have been very bad for not only our employees, but for all employees working inside the plant.
Dale Fuller, the XTO plant foreman said the following: “I wanted to let you know Saul was the one who noticed the oil coil leak on the hot oil truck. Had this truck started on fire, it could have been very bad. He is proving to be one hell of a hand. “
We want to recognize Saul for his efforts. He is new to Danos and has already proven to be an outstanding employee, one that is being recognized by the Danos customer.
