In April 2022, Danos welcomed Amir Searles back to the team as operations manager for i²ms, where he is focused on managing day-to-day operations with future and existing customers for the Danos service offering.

Amir began his career in oil and gas in 2012 working for Danos, but before that he was a full-time military man, serving in the U.S. Army and the Air National Guard. He joined the Army in 2001 after graduating from Slidell High School. (He attended Edna Karr High School for three years, but a career move for his father took the family to Slidell.)

After tours in Afghanistan, Belize and then back New Orleans, where he was stationed in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina, Amir joined the Air National Guard in 2008.

From 2008 to 2012, Amir worked at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans as a military federal technician, a human resource specialist and then a logistics supervisor. He was working on the base in New Orleans when he met a retired Army captain who had recently begun working for Shell. Recognizing his leadership abilities, the captain asked if Amir would be interested in leaving his military career.

“Initially, I wasn’t interested, and I told someone else about the opportunity,” said Amir.

However, he later reconsidered and connected with the captain. Finding the opportunity was a good fit, Amir began working for Danos as an order clerk at Shell Olympus out of Corpus Christi, working a 14/14 schedule.

“Josh Boudreaux (now Danos training supervisor) was my first personnel coordinator.”

After a year, Amir moved to One Shell Square working five days a week at as a drilling materials specialist, a position he earned because of his strong organizational skills. He was later promoted to project supervisor then project manager, and in 2018 he was promoted to account manager for Shell materials management.

In January 2020, Amir left Danos when Shell hired him to serve as materials management lead for a downstream plant in Mobile, Alabama. But he couldn’t stay away for long…

In early 2022, General Manager of Supply Chain Services Scott Theriot called Amir to meet for lunch, and he shared the exciting things happening with i²ms.

“It seemed like a great fit between i²ms and the technology partners. I was sold on the technology integration,” said Amir. “It also aligned with some of the ideas Scott and I had talked about prior to my departure from Danos.

Since coming on board, I’ve been very impressed. We’ve got some very talented people working with us. I’m excited about Danos’ new venture in this technology space.”

Currently in his 21st year of service to our country, Amir still serves in the Air National Guard. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University, both of which he earned while working full time.

Amir is married to his wife of 16 years Monique who is in her 18th year of active military duty. The two live in Covington, Louisiana, with their 10-month-old grandson Adonis. In their spare time, the family enjoys visiting the beach as often as they are able.
