Hank Danos Recognized for Safety Leadership, Innovation

Danos Chairman Garrett “Hank” Danos has been named to the National Safety Council’s “CEOs Who ‘Get It’” list for 2018. The annual recognition is presented to safety leaders who go above and beyond to protect employees both on and off the job. Danos is one of eight executives featured in the February 2018 issue of Safety+Health magazine.
President of Danos since 1990, Hank Danos led the company to steadily improve and refine its safety procedures and training. He has overseen a wide range of new safety initiatives, from quarterly, safety-focused town hall events to hazard scavenger hunts. He has made accountability for safety a company-wide, top-to-bottom priority, encouraging feedback and innovation at every level.
“We are a family-owned company, and nothing is more important to us than making sure our employees return home safely to their families every day,” says Danos. “We realize that safety is the first and the most basic responsibility that each of us must share in, and it is at the core of who we are and all that we do.”
Danos’ focus on safety includes everything from mobile hazard reporting and field inspections to customer safety meetings and weekly safety roundtables. “As our partner service providers and clients have come to embrace a common focus on safety, we have been able to work together to achieve even better results,” Danos observes.
“These leaders understand that nothing drives business like safety,” says Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council (NSC). “They have set a high bar for both their peers and employees, and we are proud to recognize their efforts.”
